Italian recipes
A basic one this, penne amatriciana.
pasta shapes (penne is the preferred style)
four slices bacon, cut into small pieces
1 onion, chopped
4 large mushrooms, sliced
1 cup peas
1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 or 2 fresh chillis (or 1 tspns chilli powder)
Boil the pasta till 'al dente' (soft, but not sloppy, still has some 'bite' to it)
Fry the onion, bacon and chilli in a small amount of oil. Add any other veg you like, chopped. Add the tomatoes and chilli powder if using. Bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
Add the drained pasta to the sauce.
Serve.
